The Goldies Charity are renowned for our fun daytime singing and activity sessions, concerts and events. Everyone is welcome to join a session as we sing-a-long to popular hits of the 50s onwards, stretch, socialise and smile.
We currently run over 150 groups across England and Wales reaching out to over 3000 older isolated and vulnerable disabled people every month.
Goldies sessions are great catalysts for community cohesion, helping people make supportive networks aiding independent living.
The Golden-Oldies Charity (Goldies) is a social initiative, bringing positive change to marginalised vulnerable people through structured daytime social singing and activity sessions that encourage participation and functional exercise. The music is based on the memory- evoking popular songs of the 50s and onwards.
Our charity promotes and sustains independence in the growing older population by making connections with local communities, offering activities that improve mental and physical health and well-being and activities that break down many social barriers.
Our activities are open to everyone with many participants being older people living in social isolation and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities and their carers. The sessions are also attended by people with mental health difficulties, Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Alongside the singing and activity sessions Goldies run award winning Heritage Lottery funded intergenerational programmes working with with primary schools local to Goldies sessions, large scale BIG SINGs bringing together sessions from across counties, concerts, Age Awareness Days, large scale Christmas meals/activities and a range of other events.
Goldies sessions, intergenerational schools programmes and additional open community events give people who live in isolation a REASON to get out, make friends and take a more active part in community cohesion projects led by the charity.
