Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

We are a small local charity based in Bolton and have been providing counselling, free at the point of need, since 1999 to people in and around the Bolton area. We have 28 trained and qualified counsellors. Every week they each volunteer at least 2-3 hours of their time. We are currently able to help and support almost 60 people each week.

We always prioritise young people, carers, military veterans and older people.

The majority of our clients experience short or long-term mental health issues including depression and anxiety. We also work with an increasing number who need support following abuse (domestic and sexual) or are coping with a family relationship breakdown.

We are committed to ongoing supervision, training and development which is essential in order to meet the needs of our clients and to ensure safe and ethical working practices.

  • Aims

Simeon Centre Counselling Service aims to:

    • To promote positive mental health by providing a free confidential counselling service in the centre of Bolton thus relieving distress.
    • To offer educational opportunities by providing placements for those training in counselling.
