The Women & Families Resource Centre

We provides services, develop programs, empower and advocate for women and children, by motivating them to overcome barriers, transform and improve the quality of their lives. We work with vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalised women and girls to reduce isolation, relieve distress and poverty, promote the confidence, skills of women and help facilitate social integration particularly asylum/refugee seekers. Our service users come from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to develop, support and maintain policies, programs, projects and activities that inform, educate, empower and celebrate women, girls and families. We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions.

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) offers a seamless and person centred service, keeping an open door for some of the most vulnerable women in and around Wolverhampton, regardless of their immigration status or country of origin, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age or disability. Our work reflects our understanding of not only the poverty and injustice that many women experience, but also the inherent inequalities that they face.

    Our services include:

The Sisters With Heart (SWH) Befriending Project: We offer home visits by providing practical one-to-one support to help women facing crises or challenging situations.

Domestic Violence Support & Counselling: We offer short term counselling sessions, One to One support, Domestic violence groups, Awareness raising workshops and events.

    Family Mediation Services

Every Woman’s Chat Group: We offer a weekly drop-in women's only group that gives service users the opportunity to meet new people, to make friends and to practice the English language.

    Other Activities include:
Cookery Sessions, Health & Well being workshops, Events, Volunteering and a Children & Young People's club.

    • We improve women's quality of life, physically, mentally and emotionally by providing practical and counselling support whilst reducing levels of social isolation or risk of violence they experience.
    • We empower and motivate women by increasing their ability to make informed choices that enable them to gain employment, to access education and to aim at becoming economically self-sufficient.
    • We raise awareness, change complacent attitudes and reduce tolerance of domestic violence and other forms of gender inequality in the communities and society at large.
