Street League work with unemployed young people aged 16-24 living in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. We use sport (football, dance or fitness) as a hook to engage with unemployed young people who then join our sport and employability Academy. While on the Academy the young people receive 121 and group employability support. Sport is used to teach softer skills and make learning fun.
Last year over 70% of our participants (1,540 young people) progressed into an employment outcome.
Street League’s vision is to help see an end to youth unemployment – through the power of sport. Our mission is to deliver a combined sport and employability programme helping young people aged 16-24 living in disadvantaged areas, who have at least one socioeconomic barrier to employment, to achieve sustained employment outcomes. 81% of the young people we work with live in the top 40% most deprived areas of the UK.
Street League aims to:
- To reduce youth unemployment
- To improve the physical health of the young person that we work with, and use sport to teach softer skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership
