The Partially Sighted Society

1. Provide free enhanced low vision assessments to anyone with any type of visual impairment.
2. Provide support/advice/advocacy
3. We are a NHS eye testing centre
4. We provide a mail order service for aids/equipment to encourage independence
5. We produce wide/bold lined stationery for students with a visual impairment around the UK
6. Also have a half day weekly clinic at our local Hospital, Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
7. We host several peer support groups and hold informational events.

    Mission Statement

    The Partially Sighted Society provides information, advice, training, magnifiers and electronic low vision aids and clear print material for anybody with a visual impairment to help them to make the best use of their remaining sight.

  • Aims

    The Partially Sighted Society aims to:

    • To provide an exemplary Enhanced Low Vision Service to people with a visual impairment and a NHS eye testing service to vulnerable people - partsighted, learning disabled & those living with dementia
    • To reduce social isolation for people with a visual impairment, by providing free/low cost social peer support groups, activities and informational events.
    • To increase awareness of visual impairment by providing Visual Impairment Awareness Training, attending events, conferences, exhibitions, groups and increasing partnerships with other organisations.
    • Providing large/wide lined and bold printed stationery to ensure that all students with a visual impairment have the same equipment within their education setting as their peers.
    • To provide free advocacy/support and information to people with a visual impairment and to encourage independence and build confidences by providing a mail order service of aids and equipment.
