  • Mission statement

To fully understand our mission it is helpful to look back at our history and consider our location. The NW5 Project is a small community run charity, situated on an estate in one of the most economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Kentish Town, a few minutes walk from the station. The Project grew out of a campaign by residents 44 years ago concernied about the lack of facilities for local children. Today our primary role is meeting the needs of young people of all ages and their families in Kentish Town. We aim to improve their quality of life; extend young people's confidence, ambitions, and skills; inspire them to recognise and achieve their potential; provide a safe space for children's free play, creativity, learning and personal growth; extend local volunteering opportunities; and build capacity and organisational skills within the community generally. We seek to ensure all our services are inclusive and welcoming. Current users come from more than 20 different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds, and we aim to involve all sections of the local community in our work and decision making including young people with disabilities/special needs, and isolated or economically disadvantaged families. We aim to strengthen further the community engagement that led to the Charity's formation and has sustained its work and services ever since. We also seek to extend involvement from local businesses in initiatives designed to build community cohesion and co-operation.
