Alternatives Trust East London

Alternatives provides holistic support to vulnerable families in Newham, helping around 150 women and their children each year. A typical client has been left alone and pregnant in the UK with no home, money or legal status after suffering an abusive relationship, sometimes rape, domestic slavery or trafficking into prostitution. Alternatives also offers counselling and pregnancy choices advice and support, and has a small team delivering sex and relationships education in local schools.

    We believe anyone can be a good parent given the right support.
    Alternatives Trust East London seeks to provide:
    • holistic, practical, relational and educational support during pregnancy, pregnancy loss and parenting
    • sex and relationship education to young people
    • training derived from our experiences

    Our services focus on the most vulnerable in Newham.

  • Aims

    Alternatives Trust East London aims to:

    • A) the advancement of education on the subject of pregnancy and the termination of pregnancy and the effects thereof upon women, whether physical mental or psychological
    • B) the preservation and protection of women’s health
    • C) provision of advice, counselling and assistance to women and their children suffering from physical or mental illness, distress or poverty during or as result of pregnancy or following an abortion
    • D) the promotion of such other charitable purposes that may conveniently be carried on in connection with the above objectives
