Greater Manchester Centre For Voluntary Organisation

GMCVO is the voluntary sector support organisation for the city-region of Greater Manchester. We initiate, co-design, coordinate and deliver a range of projects, partnerships, services and networks. Our AddVentures project hosts and supports small-scale community groups and projects, who simply 'plug into' a shared legal and governance structure, financial systems, bank account and insurance cover. They float off from AddVentures once they've proven their concept. Please give to our projects.

Founded 1975

  • Mission statement

    Greater Manchester AddVentures' mission is to enable local people to engage in small-scale community action and enterprise without needing to set up a new organisation, and to broker high-quality, low-cost support, services and resources for them which help them to be commercially self-sustaining.

    GMCVO connect up people and ideas across the 10 diverse districts, link up the voluntary sector to other sectors, bring power and resources to the voluntary sector and give the sector voice and representation.
    The AddVentures mission sits within GMCVO's vision of a strong, diverse and influential voluntary sector that:
    • promotes social, economic and political inclusion for all;
    • provides high quality support to people and communities, especially those that are disadvantaged;
    • encourages the involvement and leadership of communities, both geographical and interest-based, in addressing and resolving the issues that affect them.
    • improves the quality of life of local people.

  • Aims

    Greater Manchester Centre For Voluntary Organisation aims to:

    • Strengthen the voluntary and community sector, build bridges with other sectors, and influence local and national policy.
    • Support local voluntary action by local people, working in partnership with the public and private sectors.
