Hornimans Adventure Playground Association

Hornimans Adventure Playground provides free play opportunities for children aged between 5 and 16 years who live or attend school in RBK&C. We attract a high number of children from the wards of Golborne and St Charles.

Term-time opening: Monday-Friday 3. 30-7pm and Saturdays 11am-5pm.
School holiday opening: Monday - Friday: 11am-6pm

    To provide adventure and free play for children and young people aged 5-16 year-old.


    • Providing a safe, supportive environment with people to care and watch over them
    • Learning, enjoying, achieving and having fun
    • Enhancing and developing skills through play and activities

    • A sense of community, to involve the children in making a positive contribution to their community and adventure playground

    • Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour both in the long term and short term
    • Provide high quality activities, adventure, enterprise and free play

    • Promote children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being in a safe and welcoming setting staffed by
    qualified and trained workers and volunteers
    • Meet children’s social, cultural, educational and recreational needs through a varied, fun and stimulating choice of activities and trips off site

    • Promote the importance of play in child development

    • Encourage young people to contribute to their communities and develop their skills through volunteering
