Charity information

Auditory Verbal UK

Auditory Verbal UK is an award-winning national charity that provides life-changing support to severely and profoundly deaf children and babies to ensure they have the opportunity to listen and speak as equals alongside their hearing peers. By supporting deaf children in the critical early years of their lives with an innovative, evidence-based programme, we are transforming outcomes for young deaf children across the UK and ensuring they get an equal start at school.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

We want to raise expectations and outcomes for deaf children. We work to increase awareness, understanding and access to our early intervention programme by providing services directly to families and sharing our expertise with health and education professions so that many more families can access auditory verbal therapy close to where they live.

  • Aims

    Auditory Verbal UK aims to:

    • Providing direct support to deaf children and their families from our centres in London and Oxfordshire
    • Developing a national workforce of auditory verbal therapists through our internationally accredited training programme
    • Raising awareness of the impact of auditory verbal practice and ensuring parents have accurate information about the communication options for their deaf child
