The James Lloyd Almshouses, Bournville, Birmingham, was founded in 1869, and is a non-profit making charity managed by a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers and who meet at regular intervals throughout the year. It is now described as sheltered accommodation, moved to its current site in Heath Road, Bournville, in 1972. There are 24 self-contained flats and five bungalows. These are unfurnished dwellings set around a garden courtyard, for the use of ladies from fifty five years of age.

    Our Aim
    To provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a setting which allows the residents to live independently. It provides a secure environment where the residents are able to make friends and share a wider social life through use of a communal lounge and other facilities, if they wish. There is a resident Warden who has the responsibility of day to day matters. When on duty she can be reached through an emergency call system in each dwelling. When she is off duty, the system is linked to a central control.
