South West Equine Protection is a unique charity which specialises in rescuing and rehabilitating wild moorland ponies from both Dartmoor and Bodmin moor.
Our work also includes providing education and training to raise awareness through schools, events and working with other organisations throughout the area, to improve the standard of equine welfare in the South West.

    SWEP's Mission...
    "To rescue and rehabilitate all cases of equine suffering in the South West of England, whether caused by cruelty, neglect or accident and to re-home these ponies, on a regularly inspected loan pony basis.
    We also aim to conserve the rural environment and tourist industries of Dartmoor and Bodmin by protecting the roaming moorland pony stocks, providing equine management education and sporting and employment opportunities in the area. "

    • To rescue and rehabilitate wild moorland ponies and improve the standard of equine welfare in the area, through building a dedicated pony treatment sanctuary, which is combined with a training centre.
