Langdon aims to empower people with learning disabilities to live independently in the local community by providing members with the opportunities they need to flourish. At Langdon, we recognise that each of our members is unique with different abilities and motivations. We provide support, care, help and guidance to equip them with the skills they need to reach their personal ambitions. We are guided by a Jewish ethos, with outreach open to all.
Langdon remains an independent charity with its' own distinct offering - to support young Jewish adults who have learning difficulties. The Charity was set up in 1992 by four parents because there were no other organisations that enabled those with similar learning difficulties to live an independent life. At Langdon, 95% of the residents live that independent life. Today, Langdon currently offers both educational and supported living facilities to over 100 young adults. Langdon College, based in Manchester and London, provides offers a range of courses from basic life skills, NVQ accreditations, through to university degrees. Langdon Community has services in London and Manchester, providing a unique network of supported living accommodation that enables young adults to live in their own homes for life. Langdon Community ensures that residents benefit from its' employment programme which boasts 90% of residents being employed, including at our social enterprise New Chapters. Everyone enjoys a full and active social life, giving them the same opportunities as their peers. Langdon is unique from other organisations in that its' ethos has not changed - to provide an independent life to those who have to overcome huge hurdles in life, often because their disabilities are invisible. Your help will support the needs for both the current and the ever growing number of future residents.
