Brendoncare Clubs

Brendoncare Clubs provide 93 volunteer- led friendship/activity clubs for older people vulnerable to loneliness across Hampshire and Dorset. The clubs are run during the week and at the weekend and offer members a range of stimulating activities from exercise (kurling, skittles, keep fit, zumba), lunch clubs to a multi-activity programme of games, talks, cooking-for-1 and day trips. The clubs are run in a variety of venues from community centres, pubs, garden centres to libraries.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

Brendoncare Clubs counteract social isolation amongst older people living in their own homes to give them an opportunity to meet others in a welcoming and friendly environment with the support of our dedicated team of volunteers.
Loneliness, absence of human contact and thinking that no one really cares about you, creates depression and puts older people in a downwards spiral. By breaking the cycle of loneliness, club members make new friends and enjoy activities leading to an improvement in their health, independence and outlook.

  • Aims

    Brendoncare Clubs aims to:

    • To tackle social isolation for older people through the provision of regular friendship and wellbeing clubs.
