  • Mission statement

West Green House Opera aims to produce the most beautiful Country House Opera, with excellent music, stunning gardens and an intimate atmosphere all performing in harmony.

Our aim is to be true to the traditions associated with this most difficult of art forms with high quality yet small scale productions, an excellent garden brought to life with atmospheric lighting giving it a theatrical ambiance and wonderful dining; all done with a degree of stylish fantasy.

We work with the best independent opera companies as well as securing respected directors and designers to ensure we deliver a mixed and stimulating repertoire. We have high quality production values focusing on excellent voices and creative set designs.

Supporting talented young musicians and emerging artists is an important part of our mission providing opportunities for them to perform in front of an established audience. Besides our association with young artists from Garsington Opera, we collaborate with the LPOs Foyle Future Firsts, the Guildhall and Purcell School of Music.

By supporting West Green House Opera, you will be contributing to both securing its future here at West Green and the on-going development of this fiendishly difficult art form. Ticket revenues cover less than half the costs of producing each opera and financial support from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations is essential if we are to maintain the quality of our work, invest in the future and continue to realise our goals.
