Our mission is to improve quality of life and mental health in our clients.
Due to the confusion of living in a world that they don't understand people on the Autism Spectrum can become very depressed and develop mental health issues. Action for Asperger's aims to offers these people a place and a space where they can go and feel safe and feel understood and talk about their experiences, with a qualified counsellor, who can offer the emotional support that they need whilst also offering advice and understanding. We hope that with the expert knowledge of Asperger's Syndrome offered by the counsellors, there is the scope for the Asperger person to learn and grow.
For those people close to those with an Autism Spectrum Condition it can be a testing and stressful journey. Parents and partners can despair. Siblings may feel pushed out, get teased about their autistic sibling or may harbour worries and anxieties about what will happen in the future. These situations can lead to stress and depression and an overwhelming desire to have someone to talk to or somewhere to go for emotional support, advice or guidance. We hope that the experience and understanding we have of this other side of things, we can help these clients to feel they are not alone, and it’s ok to feel this way, and show them that we understand that living with the autism spectrum is not easy.
