The Nystagmus Network is the foremost charity in the UK providing support and information about the eye condition nystagmus. The charity was established in 1984 and has been at the forefront in supporting people affected by the condition whilst also promoting a better understanding of nystagmus. Through the charity’s extensive involvement in research we are moving closer to finding effective treatments and prevention.
The Nystagmus Network exists to support everyone affected by nystagmus, their families and carers and professionals working with them in education and employment.
The charity's objectives are:
Support - The charity provides a support and information line and facilitates networking and peer to peer support for families and individuals through social media and large events.
Research - We work closely with the top UK nystagmus research teams, funding and recruiting to trials, targeting in particular diagnostics, treatments, quality of life, prevention and, ultimately, cure.
Awareness - The charity raises awareness and
understanding of nystagmus among the general population, education and healthcare professionals and hosts an annual national and international Nystagmus Awareness Day on 20 June.
Nystagmus Network aims to:
- Research - the charity works in partnership with the UK nystagmus centres of excellence and funds nystagmus research to improve the quality of life of everyone affected, their families and carers.
- Support - the charity runs a manned information and support line and also facilitates peer to peer support through social media, appointed volunteers and organised events.
- Awareness - the charity provides information on all aspects of the condition, free of charge to individuals, families and professionals and hosts an annual Nystagmus Awareness Day on 20 June.
