The Albany Theatre Trust

The Albany is a beautiful Art Deco theatre with over 600 seats. Our 'Arts for Life' vision seeks to engage our local community through interesting and relevant events that promote wellbeing and community cohesion and this takes place alongside our programme of touring work and local amateur and youth group shows.

Founded 2012

  • Mission statement

    Our mission is to:
    • Create a programme of work that is engaging and interesting, dealing with specific health and wellbeing issues and presenting work that is relevant to our local community.
    • Develop projects in partnership with marginalised and vulnerable groups that address issues that concern them, promoting improved wellbeing through participation in arts activities.
    • Improve our facilities to enable us to support people with a range of access requirements and utilise all of the space available to us in order to provide performances and activities that are inclusive.
    • Provide opportunities for local people to engage with the theatre as volunteers, including necessary training and support for people to get into paid employment.
    • Continue our legacy of supporting local community and amateur theatre groups through the hire of our space and encourage these groups to engage with the wider programme.
