Rays and roses provide clubs for children and their parents who come from disadvantaged low income families. These include:
1) Breakfast clubs. These provide a healthy and nourishing breakfast including whole wheat breads and rolls, cereals, salads and drinks to ensure that busy dads eat a filling meal that will fortify them for their long and busy day ahead.
2) Night clubs where tired and stressed dads chill out together and receive support and lectures on relevant topics including budgeting,

  • Mission statement

Rays and Roses fill a crucial need for our members. We are the only organisation in the area suitable for our community. Many adults in the community marry at a young age and start families straight away. Families in the community are large, with many children demanding their attention. Parents are very often overwhelmed by the many responsibilities they face, and the stress that comes with it. Moreover, many of the families we are targeting live on a very low income and are on means tested benefits. Their homes are overcrowded and often missing basic appliances that can make the running of a large household so much simpler. Raising a family on so little money further compounds the stress in their lives.
Another result of their poverty is that they have no room in their budget for leisure activities, such as a lunch out with friends or a visit to a nearby attraction. Hence, these parents and their children have no way of relaxing and socializing with family and friends. This leaves them feeling extremely isolated. Having the opportunity to unwind from their daily lives, whilst taking care of their health would rejuvenate these families.
