We are an independent Museum dedicated to promoting and educating visitors on the life and achievements of Erasmus Darwin. We are located in the Georgian townhouse that was his home for 25 years.

  • Mission statement

    To promote local and regional awareness of the life and achievements of Erasmus Darwin (1731-1802) and the manner in which they relate to today’s world and to do this in a way that is enjoyable and easily understood by all.

  • Aims

    Erasmus Darwin Foundation aims to:

    • Raise local, regional and national awareness of the work of Erasmus Darwin, the Museum, it's activities, events and educational facilities.
    • Generate more donations to secure our future and sustainability.
    • To work with partner organisations and businesses to promote the Museum and tourism to Lichfield.
    • Raise funds to enable us to increase our offer to the public and improve and renew displays.
