Ferryside Social Enterprise Group

Advance education and facilities to improve the conditions of life for residents without discrimination. This objectives to be realised through the transformation of an existing education centre

Founded 2014

  • Mission statement

The old education centre in Ferryside was offered to the community by Carmarthenshire County Council as an asset transfer. Ferryside Social Enterprise Group was formed to develop this asset for the benefit of the community. Its mission is to transform the buildings and land now known as "Calon Y Fferi" ( " The Heart of Ferryside"). The transformation when complete will provide accommodation for a mixture of social enterprises and charities. Our medical practice is already operating from one wing. Groups are forming to take up these spaces and include ; filmmakers, a pottery workshop, a heritage project and a charity Mens Sheds. There will be a bunk house for walkers and cyclists, a restaurant, an art gallery and a sports hall. Small start-up enterprises both private and social will be offered workshop spaces, offices and the use of a large training room. The whole area will be supported with super-fast broadband. We will transform the land surrounding the buildings into a mixture of growing spaces, formal gardens and wildlife areas in addition to the existing local food and craft market.
