HoverAid use hovercraft to reach remote rural communities in Madagascar, providing essential medical and education services, and enabling other NGOs to work with communities they never could before.
HoverAid is an international Christian charity using hovercraft to support remote communities in Madagascar – one of the world’s poorest countries. HoverAid works where other organisations can’t... Reaching the unreachable.
HoverAid use hovercraft for emergency flood relief programmes and are preparing for major floods in Mozambique in early 2010 which will affect hundreds of thousands of people.
HoverAid is motivated by Christian compassion to support, enable, encourage, and deliver healthcare, education and development programmes.
We work with local people and churches to support local initiatives, as well as campaigning to raise awareness of the issues facing remote communities living in chronic poverty.
HoverAid aims to:
- To use hovercraft to reach remote communities along shallow rivers, providing access to medical and educational support and enabling other NGO's to work in these extremely remote areas.
- To develop trust and social capital with remote communities and make the voices of those remote communities heard by the wider world.
- To challenge service providing agencies and donors to engage with the development agendas set by remote river and wetland communities.
- To act with compassion, responsibility, respect, equity, integrity, transparency, accountability, and valuing all people as equal, rooted in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
