Agape Volunteers is a charity supporting volunteer and aid work in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa. Projects supported included schools, children's homes, medical clinics and conservation.
Agape Volunteers was founded by Guillaume Lefevre, who volunteered in Kenya for the first time in 2009. He felt that many volunteer agencies did not conform to his ideals and resolved to try for himself, alongside several like-minded employees of other organisations who were also eager to start out on their own.
They envisaged an organisation that was non-profit, volunteer-led and directly involved in projects in-country. Three basic aims guided this new venture: to make volunteering as accessible as possible; to provide real, long term and flexible
help to those in need; and to let volunteers grow into their role and make a real difference. These aims have not changed.
Our belief is that volunteers can make a real difference. They fill positions that would otherwise be empty, so that pupils can get more attention, young athletes regular training. Through fund raising, they can directly address areas of need, providing more resources for schools and orphanages, improving facilities and financing medical outreach for those without access to medical care.
By volunteering or donating to Agape, they provide us with the funds we need to continue outreach and development work. Without
volunteers, this would not be possible.
Agape Volunteers aims to:
- to make high quality, effective volunteer work as accessible as possible
- to provide real, long term and flexible help to those in need
- to let volunteers grow into their role and make a real difference
