Centre 81 provides a skills and activity centre for adults with physical and other disabilities including those with complex health/social needs together with a door-to-door community bus service.
Centre 81's mission statement is:
To work within a culture that is truly person-centred, promotes the abilities of all involved and respects and values diversity, ensuring that members with disabilities and complex health/social needs are fully involved in our direction and day-to-day operation.
To work with our members to develop their skills and abilities to promote self-confidence and enable aspirations to be achieved.
To develop a fully-accessible service for those with disabilities and complex health/social needs to ensure that skills/activities and community transport members have access to services and facilities within the wider community.
To promote community cohesion by working with the wider community to: understand the impact of disability and reduce barriers of discrimination.
To provide fully-accessible community transport for all sectors of the community where public transport is either unsuitable as it does not meet specialist needs or does not operate.
To assist individuals with disabilities and complex health/social needs to develop the skills to work together to explore and/or be able to voice their individual and collective views relating to their own disability and how their and other disabled people’s needs are met.
To develop effective strategic and operational relationships with partner agencies to deliver inclusive and integrated community services.
