  • Mission statement

Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone suffering bereavment caused by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss.

Loss is part of all of our lives and comes in many different forms. For many people the death of someone close can be one of the most devastating, painful and bewildering experiences of their life. The intensity and range of feelings experienced may be both unexpected and frightening.

Cruse Bereavement Care is a charity and offers its services to individuals free of charge. Talking to a trained supporter from Cruse can help people manage their feelings and make sense of what they are experiencing.

The backbone of Cruse is its 6,000 volunteers who receive highly acclaimed, relevant training at the start of their journey with Cruse and subsequently complete a further 15 hours of training every year.

The welfare services that Cruse provides, particularly via its telephone helpline, have been awarded a Quality Mark by Community Legal Advice.
