Link Community Development International

We are a grassroots NGO working to solve critical education challenges in sub-Saharan Africa, as a tool to help communities escape poverty. We work across rural, impoverished areas of Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi and Ghana, helping communities improve their schools through a focus on the quality of teaching and learning resources, better measurement of performance, gender equality, school access, women’s empowerment and support for the most disadvantaged children.

Founded 1995

  • Mission statement

Working in sub-Saharan Africa our mission is to inspire sustainable innovations in education, based on evidence-based, grassroots experience of approaches which have the greatest positive impact on learner outcomes. Our holistic approach has children's achievement and community development at its heart, and our interventions build lasting capacity with teachers, schools, local government, families and communities to deliver effective school improvement. By unlocking access to quality education our projects also support:

    - Girls' and Women's Rights
    - Healthier Communities: Each extra year a young mother stays in school reduces infant mortality by 5-10%
    - Poverty Reduction: If all students in low-income countries left school with basic reading skills, 171 million people could be lifted from poverty
    - Better Life Chances: A child whose mother can read is 50% more likely to live past 5 years of age

  • Aims

Link Community Development International aims to:

    • To inspire sustainable innovations in education using grassroots approaches to improve accountability and learning outcomes.
