The Apples & Pears Foundation

We work with primary schools and local charities to schedule and fund a wide variety of extra-curricular activities for both children and their families to take part in together on Saturday mornings.

Founded 2012

  • Mission statement

Apples & Pears launched in 2012 in the context of London’s most under-privileged areas suffering severe funding education cuts and the London Riots. We set about making a positive impact on the lives of young children in these areas by introducing more choices for their futures, involving their families in their learning, and building stronger and wider communities.

We have set up successful partnerships with schools in Stepney Green and Shadwell and other charities working with primary age children.

Since our foundation, our trips have involved over 600 children and family member discovering activities in London such The National History Museum, The CuttySark, The Olympic Park, Ice Skating, Canoeing and Paradise Wildlife Park.

The activities encourage the children and families to learn more about the (often free) opportunities that their local community has to offer, to visit new places and try new things (including using public transport) with the aim of encouraging them to pursue new interests on their own accord and develop their learning.
