Greenhouse Sports Limited
Greenhouse Sports Limited
Greenhouse Sports is a London-based charity that uses sport to help young people living in deprived areas to fulfil their potential. We run 50 sports programmes in schools & communities across London
Greenhouse Sports exists because, back in 2002, our CEO had a vision of a world in which every child has a fair chance to succeed.
We aim to develop the Social, Thinking, Emotional and Physical (STEP) skills of young people in London’s most disadvantaged communities through outstanding, intensive sports programmes delivered by inspirational coaches.
We currently operate 36 programmes in secondary schools and run 10 programmes in schools for young people with special educational needs (SEN). We also run four community clubs: Greenhouse Sports Football Club, Greenhouse Sports Table Tennis Club, Greenhouse Sports Inclusive Swim Club, and London Greenhouse Pioneers (our basketball club). Our coaches work with around 3,000 young people every week.
Greenhouse Sports works to address problems faced by young people growing up in deprived areas of London
Because we believe that every child should have the opportunity to thrive, we harness the power of sport to tackle the problems that lead to underachievement. Young people living in areas facing profound economic social challenges lack the opportunities available to their counterparts in more affluent areas. Few receive the recommended minimum of three hours of quality sport per week.
Participation in sport is known to increase young people’s commitment in the classroom. Sport can, quite literally, prove a game-changer. Support Greenhouse Sports today and help us commit to lasting social change.
Greenhouse Sports Limited aims to:
- To embed a full-time coach into a disadvataged school or community to develop the Social, Thinking, Emotional and Physical (STEP) skills of young people through intensive sports program
- To help develop well-rounded young Londoners equipped with the STEP skills required for happy, healthy and independent lives through inspirational mentoring. Teaching them transferable life skills.
- To deliver an intensive and elite sports programme that is open to all, whilst particularly targeting the most disengaged young people the school or local community
- To create pathways through our apprenticeship scheme for young Londoners aged 16-24 to become the next generation of inspirational sports coaches
