Mission statement
Wider World's vision is a world where all children are able to overcome adversity and enjoy a fulfilled life.
We believe that children should be given every opportunity to explore what the world has to offer, be gripped by an interest, and delight in developing their talents. Life brings inevitable knocks, but those who learn young to pursue their dreams - applying their strengths, trusting their instincts and not giving up - will find the greatest happiness, and inspire others.
Our mission is therefore to help all children access enriching experiences that inspire curiosity, deepen self-belief and broaden perspectives.
Our holiday programmes include trips to museums, art galleries, farms and conservation parks, and activities such as kayaking, climbing, orienteering and bushcraft.
Each activity includes a stretch element where children are challenged to develop a strength that research has shown to be as, if not more, important than academic results alone: for example curiosity, perseverance, zest, empathy and confidence.
One child has summed up the difference we want to make: "I have a new interest.... Which is to go on adventures and explore things". -
Aims
Wider World aims to:
- To help children develop broader perspectives, self belief, resilience and a range of life-enhancing strengths through increased access to out-of-school enrichment activities
