  • Mission statement

    'Enabling Choice and Independence'

Andover and District Mencap is an Independent, Not For Profit, local Learning Disability charity supporting and advocating for adults and children with learning disabilities and their families and carers. Established in 1964 (our 50th anniversary falling in 2014) by a group of parents, who thought the idea of sending their children to residential hospitals was not in the best interests of their children and that they thought they should live their lives and have the same opportunities as everyone else. Since that time we have been working with our members their families and carers in the local community, to enable people with learning disabilities to live as independent a life as possible.
