Highbury Grove School Foundation

The school Foundation was set up to extend the educational opportunities of all the students in the school by providing experiences and events not normally funded by school

Founded 2012

  • Mission statement

Highbury Grove School has continuous challenges as across the school, we have over 50% pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) (national average is 14%) and 50% for whom English is a second language, with 80% of students stating their ethnicity is BAME origin. The Foundation supports the school policy of improving outcomes and setting high attainment expectations in two key areas by enhancing educational opportunities and developing effective communications between staff and pupils. The Foundation supports particular projects such as sending pupils on trips to widen their experiences, as with the backgrounds described many families are unable to afford even short trips away. In 2016, the Foundation will assist the school in funding Outward Bound experience for students in year 9 , and language experience day trips where the whole year group is offered the trip without payment in order to remove the barriers to access these experiences. Outward Bound is of benefit in creating a personal challenge for many students to develop team working skills and self reliance.
