Theatre Royal Wakefield is a thriving producing and receiving Theatre welcoming 80,000 people each year to see drama, music, dance and comedy. Young people experience the magic of live theatre both as audience members and as performers.

    “Theatre Royal Wakefield creates and presents work that provides opportunities for the people of Wakefield to consume and participate in performing arts of the highest quality. The theatre is a cultural hub, reaching out to engage, inform, delight and challenge audiences, providing gateways to encourage first time attendance and pathways for those who are already attending to gain new experiences. ”

    Wakefield Theatre Trust aims to:

    • To present a wide range of live performance art of the highest quality
    • To attract a diverse audience from across the Yorkshire region and beyond
    • To provide performance training programmes for young people aged 5-18 years
    • To provide opportunities for young people to perform alongside professional artists
    • To work in partnership with the John Godber Company to create new plays for regional and national audiences
