Dorset Mental Health Forum is a peer run charity, improving the lives of people affected by mental illness by promoting wellbeing and recovery and working in partnership to shape and provide services.

  • Mission statement

    The Forum is a local peer run charity, which exists to improve the lives of everyone affected by mental illness by promoting wellbeing and recovery, influencing local statutory service provision and providing a range of specialist peer led and partnership services. At the Forum we believe that people with lived experience of mental health problems have a wealth of specialist knowledge and expertise that can be utilised in coproduction to improve the design and provision of services. We believe that everyone has an equal right to enjoy all of the opportunities that life can provide and we promote the principle that hope, mental health and wellbeing are essential to every person. We believe that mental health is everyone’s business and that through recovery education and coproduction, people can explore and understand their experiences, find hope, discover resources and build skills, see opportunity and gain control of their lives, putting their skills and discoveries into practice in order to build and live the lives they wish to live.
