The Abbotsford Trust

The vision of the Abbotsford Trust is to conserve the house, the collections within the house and the estate of Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott, for the benefit of current and future generations. In so doing and through the creation of enhanced visitor facilities, education and interpretation programmes, the Trust will foster a greater understanding of the unique contribution that Sir Walter Scott made to literature, to the Scottish nation and to wider society.

The charitable objectives of the Abbotsford Trust are to:

1. Preserve, protect and improve the Abbotsford buildings, and contents and the land associated with Sir Walter Scott and his family for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.
2. Advance the education of the public in relation to the life and works of Sir Walter Scott and the history of Abbotsford.
