Hot Line Meals Service (London)

Hot Line Meals Service (London) is an organisation run solely by our loyal band of 175 volunteers, who prepare, cook, pack and deliver daily hot fresh nutritious meals to over 150 people who are physically/emotionally ill, frail, elderly or members of dysfunctional families. Our service users are of the poorest members in BAME communities in London’s most deprived boroughs of Hackney and Haringey. As a result of our activities , people are enabled to stay independent and well in their own homes.

Founded 1997

  • Mission statement

Hot Line Meals has been established 1997 and been providing its services ever since. The name, synonymous with quality, confidentiality and great service, is thus well known within the community and local welfare organisations such as North London Bikur Cholim, Ezer LeYoldos and Bikur Cholim D'Satmar refer to us those in need of our services. The aim of Hot Line Meals Service is to maintain the good physical and emotional health of people of all ages, who because of ill health, disability or other disadvantage, are unable to provide a hot daily nutritious meal for themselves or for other members of their families and therefore lack nutrition. This also maintains their independence and ability to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, and strengthens family ties. We thus provide nutritious daily meals to the elderly, dysfunctional families and to deprived children and young people of London’s most deprived boroughs Hackney and Haringey, many who are from BAME communities. The 150 meals we provide daily are prepared, cooked and delivered fresh daily by 175 devoted volunteers. We also provide training towards RSPH accredited level 2 certificate in food safety and Hygiene for young users of our service, to improve their employment prospects as well as their independence and confidence.
