Changing Paths Charitable Trust

Changing Paths was originally set up by the Wates Family and is now an incorporated registered charity with six trustees, drawn from a variety of backgrounds, and is independent of the Wates business.

Founded 2011

  • Mission statement

Changing Paths Charitable Trust core service supports offenders, ex-offenders and the long-term unemployed into the construction, building and retail sectors. This includes a bespoke stonemasonry training facility in Rochester, Kent, a catering enterprise (London and Kent). To facilitate this, Changing Paths has developed a large employer base with firm commitments for pre-arranged work placements leading to full-time jobs for the screened and selected individuals who come through the CPCT skills training packages. Employment opportunities are available before skills courses start, which makes for a smooth transition from custody into work, putting into immediate practice the skills that are learned throughout the course.
Since inception Changing Paths has formed partnerships with and delivered contacts for the Ministry of Justice (National Offender Management Service), Kent and London Probation Trusts, DWP and Job Centre Plus, London City Hall, London Development Agency and the Olympic Development Agency.
Changing Paths has also won second prize in the Robin Corbett Award for Prisoner Rehabilitation 2015.

  • Aims

    • To provide for the training of offenders prior to and following release from prison and other institutions.
