Maternity Action

Maternity Action is the UK’s leading charity committed to ending inequality and improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, partners and young children.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

Maternity Action works to uphold, protect and improve maternity rights through specialist information, advice, training and policy work. We pro-actively support migrant women.

We provide advice and information for parents on their rights at work, rights to benefits and healthcare. We also produce a range of information sheets about these rights, several in new migrant languages, as well as a confidential adviceline. Our information sheets are downloaded 11,000 / month; the adviceline answers 2,500 calls / year.

We provide expert advice and information for employers managing pregnant women and new parents.

We campaign for the rights of vulnerable pregnant women, young children and their families. Our work is based on rigorous research, influencing locally, regionally and nationally.

We offer specialist training for community workers, clinicians and others to provide advice and support to vulnerable women and their families.

We conduct research on the experiences of vulnerable women, supporting service providers to improve.
