Gender Rights And Equality Action Trust

GREAT campaigns for gender equality at home and abroad.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

The GREAT Initiative was founded by Mariella Frostrup, Karen Ruimy and Jason McCue in 2010.
GREAT’s unique approach is grounded in the belief that the best route to equality is through working with both women and men. We salute the fantastic work being done by women’s organisations and increasingly men’s, as well as by gay rights and all other equality campaigners. But we are a little different.
For GREAT it all comes down to gender stereotypes which, from the minute we are clothed in a pink or blue babygrow, begin influencing and restricting who we become, how we ought to behave, how we ought to look, who we ought to love. GREAT works to challenge and disrupt these stereotypes, which we believe will lead to a more equal, prosperous, less violent society and frankly a far more interesting, exciting and happier one.
