Merton Mencap is an independent, registered charity supporting children and adults with learning disabilities/Autism and their family carers in the London Borough of Merton.
We run a wide range of projects and activities which help people with learning disabilities/Autism to live as independently as possible, participate in their community and enjoy life.
We support carers to have a life of their own and to have a say about local services which affect them and the person they care for.
Our mission is:
To listen to and understand the needs of people with learning disabilities/Autism and their families, empowering them to make their voices heard, actively representing and fighting for their interests, and creating and delivering the services they need.
Merton Mencap aims to:
- To support people with learning disabilities/Autism to be healthy, safer and more independent
- To support people with learning disabilities/Autism to take part in mainstream, community life
- To support family carers to be less isolated, more resilient and to have a greater say about how local services affecting them and the person they care for should be provided
