    MISSION STATEMENT:
Promoting mental wellbeing in the community through music and performance

Upbeat’s services embrace and enhance the musical talent and creativity of individuals experiencing mental health issues. Clients may come to us with no previous musical experience and nothing more than the desire to try something new, or they may be experienced performers who have undergone a rocky period and require some help reintegrating into public life. As a result, Upbeat’s community contains a wonderfully eclectic mix of musicians and performers that truly reflects the rich cultural history of Camden and the wider London area.
Upbeat supports recovery facilitates new income opportunities and helps re-integrate working-aged adult individuals into their community through training, workshops, recording, mentoring, performances and social events. The charity uses music as its primary working medium. Many mental health sufferers find it difficult to cope; they can struggle with day-to-day tasks and often lack proper emotional support, as well as a general sense of purpose in life. The charity enables its clients to become involved in the design, delivery, management, review and development of Upbeat’s services. As the individuals’ sense of belonging to this musical community increases, it encourages motivation, personal responsibility and a meaningful sense of the use of their own time.
