Collaboration For Environmental Evidence

A global network which aims to ensure that environment management decisions are informed by the best scientific research, for the benefit of biodiversity conservation and human well-being.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

CEE is a world leader in the promotion of evidence-based policy and practice in environment management. It is a growing global network of people who synthesise the best available research evidence about the impact of environment mangement actions and provide evidence summaries to decision-makers at global and local level. CEE uses 'systematic review' methodology to create evidence summaries. Whilst other sectors such as the health services have been coordinating an evidence base and using systematic review methodology for a few decades, CEE has only relatively recently begun this task for environmental management. CEE maintains an open-access electronic library of systematic reviews, which is the only source of peer-reviewed systematic reviews of evidence in the fields of conservation and environmental management. Entirely through voluntary effort, CEE has achieved international recognition and CEE expertise has been employed by key governmental and intergovernmental organisations to meet their needs for evidence.
The mission of CEE is to make conservation and environmental management more effective so that we can better conserve the biodiversity of our planet, for the benefit of all people. The main aim is to enable people to have easy access to scientific research information relevant to thier most pressing environmental concerns. The intended beneficiaries are the general public who will benefit from more effective environment management and conservation action.
