  • Mission statement

The mission of Smart Works is to provide interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes. We help them look amazing and feel confident enough to succeed at their job interview and change the direction of their life.

In the current economic climate there is tough competition for every job and particularly for women. Smart Works supports disadvantaged women of all ages and from all backgrounds back in to employment.

    The Process:

Women who are unemployed but who have been offered a job interview are referred to Smart Works by referral agencies. These include Charities, Job Centre Plus, Employability Services, NHS etc

Suitable interview outfits are donated to Smart Works by professional women and by retailers across Scotland.

Volunteers at Smart Works provide 1-1 sessions when clients choose a suitable outfit to keep and to wear at their job interview

An interview training volunteer helps the client prepare for her interview.

The client will leave Smart Works feeling smart, confident and well equipped for her interview.

If the client is successful in her interview she will be invited back to Smart Works to choose some additional pieces to make the most of her outfit.

Typically our clients come from a range of ethnic backgrounds, they are of all ages and some have disabilities. Many are single parents.
