Holborn Community Association

We provide accessible services for the residents of Holborn and the surrounding areas. HCA aims to promote the interests of local people regardless of age, background, circumstances and needs. Our services focus especially on children 0-18 and those aged 50+, encouraging engagement and volunteering. We provide a space for local people to access recreation and welfare services, liaise with appropriate local organisations and institutions and operate a community centre facility as a meeting space for local people and organisations. Our three centres, Bedford House Community Centre, 1A Arts and Millman Street Resource Centre, are places where local people can meet and take part in a range of quality and affordable activities.

  • Mission statement

    Our overarching vision is for a thriving and vibrant local community in Holborn.

    Our Mission is to:

    - Present opportunities to those in the local community who would not ordinarily have them;

    - Provide an integrated range of services, activities and accessible spaces to all local people, encouraging interaction and reducing social and economic disparities in the community;

    - To respond to local needs - providing the local community with a foundation to help promote social cohesion and resilience, fostering a community spirit to help the community help itself and operating sustainably whatever the economic climate.

    We actively contribute to the positive development of our local community through centre-based work, outreach, capacity-building and training; by providing a range of accessible, affordable services and facilities for education, leisure, sport, health and well-being, and social welfare, tailored to meet local needs by being community-led. We provide over 100 hours of services with an average footfall of over 1000 users per week. Our varied programme includes under-5s play, gymnastics (including outreach to schools), Taekwondo, ballet, a range of arts and cultural projects, play schemes, family trips; and over-55s activities from fitness to gardening and computer classes, befriending, meals and social activities.
