Museum Of Power
Museum Of Power
The Museum of Power works to preserve the steam pumping station at Langford, Maldon, Essex, for the benefit of the community and to develop a power related museum that will entertain and educate.
We believe in making a future for our industrial heritage, we will do this by the preservation or conservation of a collection connected with the generation or use of power. The collection ranges from the sole remaining Lilleshall triple expansion steam driven pumping engine through deisel and gas engines to an edwardian belt workshop to items of domestic use.
By acquiring, housing, exhibiting, conserving, restoring and repairing objects and collections related to power, We aim to educate and entertain people of all ages, to make power fun. This will ensure that the Museum of Power is sustainable for the future and provides a useful presence within the community.
The volunters at the museum have and will continue to restore a number of machines which can be demonstrated to the public and have created many interative displays which help to explain power, entertain and educate.
As a redundant fresh water pumping station the water story features stongly in our education program.
Museum Of Power aims to:
- TO PRESERVE FOR THE COMMUNITY THE LANGFORD STEAM PUMPING STATION AND TO DEVELOP A SIGNIFICANT REGIONAL POWER RELATED MUSEUM, WHICH WILL BOTH EDUCATE AND ENTERTAIN THE PUBLIC AT LARGE.
