Berkshire Carers Service

A local, Berkshire-based charity, we provide free information, advice, advocacy and support to unpaid carers of all ages throughout the county of Berkshire.

Founded 1994

  • Mission statement

We work to improve the lives of unpaid carers, children, adults and older adults living in Berkshire by providing specialist information, advice and advocacy for unpaid carers, support groups and activities for unpaid carers, carers' grants and carers' awareness training. We have a two carers' forums which helps us develop services to meet carers' needs and identify challenges local carers face throughout the year. The Charity also runs a roadshow of activities across the year to enable local carers to take part in a social activity with other carers and tell us their experience of local services and which services are most needed.

  • Aims

    Berkshire Carers Service aims to:

    • To identify unpaid carers in Berkshire: adults and children who are providing care and support without payment to another person who has limiting illness, disability or misuses substances.
    • To provide effective intervention for unpaid carers of all ages enabling them to have support at appropriate stages of caring and manage the caring role with greater confidence.
    • To enable unpaid carers to remain healthy, continue in work or in school/college and participate in leisure and social activities around caring roles.
