Saint Francis Hospice has been providing excellence in palliative care for 30 years and supports around one million people living in Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Brentwood.

  • Mission statement

    Saint Francis has been providing specialist palliative care for 30 years and has rapidly grown into one of the largest adult hospices in England supporting nearly one million people living in Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Brentwood. In the last 15 years patient numbers have nearly doubled and to meet this growth the hospice now employs more than 150 clinical staff. Our expertise covers many life limiting illnesses; 84% suffer from cancer but we also support sufferers of neurodegenerative diseases, organ failure and dementia. Last year we helped 1,505 new referrals; IPU had 401 new admissions (average length of stay of 12. 5 days), day hospice accepted 248 new patients and supported 2,495 attendances, community nurse specialists delivered 1,839 home visits and a further 810 face-to-face contacts with health professionals and visiting bereaved families; Triage handled 9,186 telephone calls providing initial patient assessment and advice to patients, carers and health professionals; and Hospice@Home delivered 12,084 hours of care.
