Genesis Trust Bath

Genesis provides a unique safety net in Bath for people who are struggling with homelessness and poverty.

We provide free food, clothing and low cost furniture, as well as advice, training and work placements to help vulnerable adults get back on their feet and move forward with their lives.

Our 10 interlinked projects address both the causes and symptoms of poverty and homelessness. Volunteers and staff offer hope, support and a future to Bath's most marginalised people.

Founded 1995

  • Mission statement

Our vision is a thriving and supportive community in the Bath area where everyone has hope and a future.

With the help of over 700 volunteers, we support disadvantaged and vulnerable people locally, offering opportunities for them to make healthy choices and improve their lives and prospects.

Last year our volunteers served 10,000 meals to people living on the streets. We provided 7,500 items of low-cost household furniture, mostly donated locally, to people on low incomes and our Lifeline drop-in centre for homeless and vulnerable adults hosted 8,000 visits.

  • Aims

    Genesis Trust Bath aims to:

    • Provide advice and advocacy - the practical support vulnerable people need to sort out housing and benefits, get legal or debt advice and address mental or physical health problems.
    • Provide emotional support and friendship long term to enable homeless and vulnerable people address their issues, reintegrate into society and start to rebuild their lives.
    • Meet basic needs - our projects collect and distribute food, clothing and furniture donations for individuals who are in such crisis that they cannot feed their families or furnish their homes.
    • Provide training and work opportunities - self development courses, mentoring and placements for people who are long term unemployed due to mental health problems, homelessness or other complex issues
