Ride High uses horses and group teamwork activities to improve the skills, confidence, self esteem and prospects of disadvantaged children.
Ride High aims to help severely disadvantaged children by teaching them to ride and care for horses. The therapeutic effect of contact with horses ins remarkable. Around the horses children who are troubled or disruptive generally demonstrate rapid positive changes in behaviour.
In addition to working directly with horses we aim to develop the children's social and literacy skills by working on horse-related clubroom projects.
We also take the children on trips out and all volunteer for Ride High.
A key part of our work is to facilitate routes into further education and work experience.
By working with the children over a period of months and years rather than weeks we aim to improve their prospects in life.
Ride High aims to:
- to facilitate routes to further education, work experience and work placements for the children who attend Ride High
- To increase the physical participation and skills of disadvantaged children by teaching them to ride and care for horses
- To develop the social and literacy skills of disadvantaged children in order to increase their confidence and self esteem
