Right From The Start

Right from the Start researches the causes of loneliness, stress and depression in childhood & publishes inspiring books/materials for parents, teachers & childcare professionals to encourage change.

Founded 1988

  • Mission statement

Right from the Start was set up to research the root causes of stress, violence and depression in childhood and to publish, in response, books and materials, which introduce and bring to life transforming and protective strategies which are able to inspire the way parents, teachers and all childcare professionals think about and nurture babies and children.
It offers profoundly hopeful, holistic, balanced and practical healing strategies and best practice. We are working to bring about desperately needed changes in an increasingly peaceless and self-harming society.
The underlying thrust is to respond creatively and practically to the growth of alienation, loneliness and insecurity in many children’s lives – and their parents, also the bullying, aggression or depression which so often follow. Parents and everyone involved with children are given vital information, tools and encouragement that build warmer and stronger relationships between them from birth.
We believe that the only way to achieve this is to give greater, warmer and continuing practical help and encouragement to parents, especially to mothers. We work to reduce neglect, insensitivity and cruelty to babies and young children through providing more loving and creative support – critical skills and knowledge which may be missing – to all adults who care for children from conception.
Our belief is that together we can create a secure and loving environment for our children.
