The Mary Hare Foundation

The Mary Hare Foundation was established to raise funds for the Mary Hare School for deaf children, a national school educating deaf children aged 5 - 19 years through spoken and written English.

Founded 1991

  • Mission statement

Mary Hare believes that all deaf children should receive the education and support which will enable them to achieve their full potential at home, school and in their subsequent careers.

We offer deaf children access to the full curriculum at GCSE, A level and a range of vocational courses. Teaching is carried out through listening and speaking, putting English at the heart of learning - to enable the young people attending to go on to university, further education and the employment of their choice.

We also provide training for professionals working with deaf children to ensure that deaf children in other settings benefit from the best support they can.

Mary Hare School offers deaf children specialist support for their education through optimal acoustic treatment of all buildings, specialist hearing and amplification technology in all classrooms, support for all audiology needs, speech and language therapists and qualified Teachers of the Deaf in all subjects.
